  • Where is your farm located?
We’re based in Castor, a small village in Cambridgeshire. Our pastures are part of the local landscape, and we’re proud to be building a food system rooted in community and care.
  • What does “pasture raised” really mean?
Our chickens live outdoors on real pasture - not just for a few minutes, but for most of their lives. They spend the first 3 weeks in a brooder - a indoor shelter (much like a rabbit hutch), so they can develop their feathers and grow big enough to survive the outdoor world. When outdoors, they forage, dust-bathe, and roam on the pasture. They have access to fresh pasture every single day. They bathe in the sunshine when they feel like it, and shelter when they need. It’s a world away from industrial farming.
  • Is your chicken organic?
We do not pay for a organic certification - and here’s why. We focus on what matters most: animal welfare, soil health, and transparency. Our feed is carefully chosen - this is an organic feed. Our birds are raised on fresh pasture everyday - the land remains unsprayed and naturally managed. We do not use antibiotics. We do not use chemicals. We believe in consumer certification: we give you the facts, and you decide.
  • What’s the difference between free-range and pasture-raised?
“Free-range” often means limited outdoor access, or potentially even free-ranging in a giant indoor barn with no access to sunlight or pasture! Don't be fooled by clever marking and naming. It's not always what you think it is. “Pasture-raised” means our birds live on pasture, not just visit it. It’s a deeper commitment to welfare, nutrition, and transparency.
  • How do you ensure animal welfare?
We raise our pasture raised chickens slowly, with space to move and express natural behaviours. No overcrowding, no routine antibiotics, and no stressful lives. We pride ourselves that our chickens have access to fresh pasture every day. They are organically supplemented and even hydrated using filtered water - only the best! Welfare isn’t a checkbox - it’s the heart of everything we do.
  • Why does your chicken taste different?
Because it’s real. Slower growth, outdoor living, and nutrient-rich pasture create flavour and texture you won’t find in supermarket chicken. We do not use chemicals or antibiotics...nor do we use gas flushing within our packaging to extend shelf life. We don't use cheap soya feed. We don't use water from streams. We don't genetically modify our birds. Supermarkets do all of this, which ultimately alters the taste of the bird. Our pasture raised chicken is how chicken used to taste and how it should.
